Dr. Murariu typically combines neck liposuction with Renuvion to tighten the skin after removing fat. Personal Consultation

Your personal consultation is fundamental for establishing your treatment plan. During this meeting, Dr. Murariu will meet with you to assess your medical history, learn about your concerns, and establish realistic expectations and goals. He will also perform a physical examination to evaluate the treatment area, including your skin’s quality, how much fat has accumulated, and where the fat is present.

Dr. Murariu will then use this information to finalize your candidacy and begin to create your personalized treatment plan. As he does so, he will explain each concept to you so you understand what to expect, and he will also answer any questions you may have.

Preparation

Once you have scheduled your procedure, Dr. Murariu and his team will give you detailed preoperative instructions to help you prepare. These may vary depending on your medical history and the details of your treatment plan, but they typically include:

Procedure

At the start of your procedure, you will receive local numbing medication to ensure your comfort. Dr. Murariu will then begin your procedure. IV sedation provided by a board-certified anesthesiologist is available upon request, but most, if not all patients, are able to have the procedure under local only.

Dr. Murariu will place three tiny small incisions (two hidden behind the ears and one under chin) to targeted fat deposits before injecting them with a tumescent fluid. This solution blends epinephrine, lidocaine, and saline to minimize bleeding, further numb the treatment area, and swell the fat cells to make them easier to remove. ⁽³⁾

He will then insert a cannula into the treatment area. This cannula will be moved back and forth to emulsify your fat before suctioning it from the region, leaving the neck more slender and toned. Dr. Murariu will proceed to sculpt the entirety of your neck to achieve your desired definition. He will then close the incision, and you will briefly rest before returning home.

Recovery

Dr. Murariu performs neck liposuction on an outpatient basis, which means that he will release you from his care on the same day he completes your procedure. During your consultation, he will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions. These will help you care for your incisions, manage your side effects, and return to certain activities safely.

You can expect to experience some initial swelling, bruising, and general discomfort. These effects will dissipate on their own, but you can also manage them with prescribed medications and resting with your head elevated. Dr. Murariu will also direct you to wear a compression garment, which will maintain your neck’s new appearance as your tissues continue to settle and heal.

You may return to most of your daily activities after resting for approximately 1 to 2 weeks, but you will need to continue avoiding anything physically strenuous or demanding until Dr. Murariu clears you to return. You will also attend follow-up appointments so he can monitor your healing progression and ensure your results are developing as expected.

Results

You will notice a difference immediately after your procedure, but the full results of neck liposuction may take several months to develop. While they will vary, you can expect smoother and tighter skin, improved contours, elevated proportions, a more defined profile, and a more seamless transition between the head, neck, and upper shoulders.

These effects can last for many years, as your fat cells cannot return once your body has eliminated them. However, the surrounding cells can still swell, making it imperative that you retain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle.
